Maggie Beer’s ox tail with orange, olives and walnuts. Foreword by my Jennee.
Jennee’s bit (not Jennee’s bits you perve! She gave that up years ago when I made an honest woman of her!) “Some of you may know me as the hard arse, competitive wifee that loves a good slow roast anything and ensures that Gray’s head doesn’t over inflate due to too much praise. But what…

The Sunday roast… the final instalment
The Sunday roast… or not… So you still can’t do a decent Sunday roast? You just don’t have enough time… your kids are so hungry they’re starting to eat each other… and you’ve already lost three. Lucky your white trash genes decreed that you shalt have eleven children. Even if you do have to sacrifice…

My lack of recent posts is definitely relative to the arrival of “the duckman”
I know I haven’t posted anything for a week or quite possibly longer… or maybe even less… I couldn’t actually be 100% sure. But there is a valid and just reason for my absence; drinking. I’m not talking about performing the task we all need to complete to keep our body hydrated and there fore…

Byron Beach Cafe
Byron Beach Cafe… the very last breakfast of my holidays Yes, we are back in ol’ Byron town. Home of everything hippy, happy, holistic and often hellishly hippy-critical. The last two weeks have been an absolute blast and now, all of sudden the holiday is over. Two weeks of lovely, beautiful holidays are done. It’s…

Grill’d. A place to eat burgers…
Grill’d. A place to eat burgers… Grill’d at Coolangatta. A place to eat burgers and look at scantily clad women and guys with really big arms… Another contender for the trendy-and-maybe-a-little-bit-healthier-fast-food-chain-of-the-year award. These guys do make a good burger. From seemingly humble beginnings in Sydney they have grown to a chain of at least two…

Jungle curry goat
Jungle curry goat… Good enough to make me gloat Hot enough to take you by the throat Definitely worth more than a single groat (Is this what my life has become?) And that shall be the jingle for my new goat curry café. Or maybe it won’t be. In any case I’d need to get…

Lunch at Le Relais Bressan, Flaxton
Lunch at Le ble bleu blah blah… Or lunch at Le Relais Bressan (if you can speak French a little better then Joey from “Friends” circa 1990s sometime), Flaxton. This place was the best dining “experience” of our trip. Good food and wine, great service and meals that hit your table fast… Three courses in…

A toast, a toast, to the Sunday roast… for mid week dinner
Too often the great Sunday roast is a concept that is abandoned to die a lonely death in a post apocaliptic waste land of shriveled up battery hens, tough, dry-as-Egyptian-sand-script lamb, under cooked potatoes, over cooked greyish hued beans and gravox gravy. Or maybe the baine marie for the “pension card holders 9 dollar special”…
